May Wrap Up

Hi guys!

May has ended so its time for a wrap up.

So, let’s go.

May Wrap Up

Lumberjanes Vol. 1 by Noelle Stevenson

May 4, 2020 – May 5, 2020

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I really enjoyed this. I think it was fun, and a really quick read. I’m not someone who reads a lot of graphic novels, and – maybe because of that – I did find the pacing to be weird. I think that it jumped straight into the action without much context or explanation, but I also see why. It does have a lot of potential for growth so I will be continuing on with this series.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

May 1, 2020 – May 12, 2020

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I want to read all the Bronte books and this one has a big history with me. I have picked this book up and put it down a good 3 to 4 times before now. And I had this feeling that I needed to finish it, so I looked up Wuthering Heights memes and use that as a sole motivational force for me to read it. And I enjoyed it. Wuthering Heights has all the elements that I liked. It has a dark setting, fucked up characters, its set during the Victorian era, and it is just plain weird.

It is clear that the characters are unlikable, and that is how they are supposed to be. In general, I enjoyed it. The reason why it is not a 5 stars is more towards the ending since it all really wrapped up nicely, and I just don’t generally care about that type of ending.

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

May 13, 2020 – May 13, 2020

DNF @ 15 pages

All I can say is that her writing style is not for me.

Kamisama Kiss Vol. 1 by Julietta Suzuki & Tomo Kimura

May 20, 2020 – May 21, 2020

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This was a re-read so I can continue reading and hopefully finishing the series.

I have no thoughts.

Pet Sematary by Stephen King

May 24, 2020 – May 30, 2020

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I have attempted to read King many times. I have listened to the audiobook of the Shinning, and tried to listen to the audiobook of It, but that was a hot mess. Until one day where I was lying on my sister’s floor and decided to pick this one up. And I ended up realizing that I prefer to read, rather than listen to his books.

As for my feelings on Pet Sematary… I wanna scream. I want to get more into the horror/mystery thriller genre, but a lot of them ones I know of are domestic/realistic thriller. Which is not my jam. That hits too close to home. So I was really skeptical coming into Pet Sematary, because I had this perspective that it was going to be similar to the Shinning. It is not. This book is… oh my goodness. I have no words. I love supernatural horror, and boy did this deliver. This was so good. So so good.

Total pages: 395 pages

Those are all the books I read in May. Let me know what you read in May and if you have any thoughts on the books I read.

See you guys in my next post.
